The
Children's Fund is a central part of the Government's agenda
for children and young people aged 5 – 13 years and their families.
We aim to make a real difference to the lives of those at risk
of social exclusion.
Our goal is to tackle disadvantage early on
and to make sure that the help and support some families need
is available, appropriate and easily accessible.
We work in partnership with local statutory
agencies, voluntary organisations, community and faith groups
and most importantly children and young people to plan and deliver
high quality preventative services that meet the needs of their
communities.
What does the Children’s
Fund do in Peterborough?
It develops and funds new preventative services including those
provided by voluntary and community organisations, making sure
that:
- Families get help quickly
- Services work closely together so everyone
knows what everyone else is doing
- Families can refer themselves
- Children, young people, their families
and the communities in which they live are asked and listened
to about what they need
The new services help with:
- Improving attendance at school
- Improving how well children and young
people do at school
- Reducing crime
- Improving health
Children, young people, their families and
communities are asked regularly how much they think the services
are helping them and what else should be done.
The Peterborough Children's Fund is not just
about resources and new services, we want to build on the excellent
work that many organisations and communities are already doing
to support children and young people.
We ensure that the voices of children and
young people are at the heart of the services we are developing.
The Peterborough Children's Fund has a Partnership
Board made up of 38 members including representatives from the
statutory agencies, voluntary and community organisations, faith
groups and children and young people.
